(Keto Style)
Spring is almost here and sometimes a hot cup of coffee or tea is the last thing you want. Man, a smoothie sounds good, but if you aren't careful, a calorie-ladened, sugar-filled smoothie can wreck your diet and health goals. Is it worth it? It is if your smoothie goes keto.
The internet is full of healthy, carb-conscious recipes to fulfill a keto diet, smoothies included, so you’re bound to find one you like. Here is my favorite low-carb, keto recipe for a delicious smoothie without all of the sugar and calories.
Raspberry Chocolate Avocado Smoothie
This is a low-carb, dairy-free, filling smoothie that doesn’t skimp you on taste or satisfaction. You can have this as a snack or as a breakfast replacement. Please note, this recipe is for 2 servings.
Ingredients:
· ½ avocado
· 1¼ cup cashew milk / or coconut milk
· 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
· 1/8 teaspoon raspberry extract
· 1/3 cup frozen raspberries or blueberries
· 1 teaspoon raw honey optional
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until well incorporated. You can add a little more cashew milk for your desired consistency, but don’t exceed 1½ cups total; this will increase the calories and carbs.
This smoothie packs a big, delicious punch. The cashew milk is smooth and unexpected without any of the problems of dairy, and the cocoa powder gives it that yummy, chocolate-y flavor you crave in a smoothie. The avocado and raspberries deliver a ton of anti-oxidants and will keep you feeling fuller longer with healthy fats. This is definitely the cool boost of energy you need on a hot summer morning!
